Ayers Rock Resort launches Outback Sky Journeys
Guests at Ayers Rock Resort can now gain even greater enjoyment from the desert sky with the launch of two Outback Sky Journey tours.  The Family Astro Tour and Astro Tour are just over an hour in length and use telescopes, binoculars and iPads to explore the constellations. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate is served and numbers are limited to 25 per tour. Both tours cost $38 per adult with children under 15 free when accompanied by a paying adult. Qantas returns to the Gold Coast
Qantas will resume daily services from the Gold Coast in late October. Three daily return services between the Gold Coast and Sydney will commence using Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Qantas will refurbish the Jetstar passenger lounge to be reopened as a Qantas Club by the end of 2012. Qantas will also introduce new check-in kiosks at Gold Coast Airport for Qantas passengers. China Southern commences flights to Cairns
China’s largest international carrier, China Southern Airlines, will commence new flights from Guangzhou to Cairns and Brisbane from December 2012. The airline will operate three new weekly flights to Cairns and increase its existing four-per-week service to Brisbane to a daily operation. China Southern is the second Chinese carrier in a month to announce new air services to Cairns, with China Eastern having also confirmed new direct flights from Shanghai.

84 year old notches up 50th Bridge Climb
An 84 year old man has achieved his 50th climb to the summit of the Sydney Harbour Bridge with BridgeClimb Sydney. Lloyd Poulton is BridgeClimb Sydney’s most frequent climber. Since his first climb in 2001, Mr Poulton has had over 250 photos taken, climbed over 65,000 steps, walked 90 kilometres and spent more than 250 hours scaling the bridge. Echidna Walkabout offers hands-on approach to help koalas
Echidna Walkabout has launched a ‘volun-tourism’ program as part of the new Koalas & Kangaroos IN THE WILD tour. The tour offers visitors the option to engage in conservation activities to improve the koalas’ habitat in the You Yangs Regional Park, such as recording wildlife sightings and koala behaviour or removing invasive boneseed weed. The full-day tour includes lunch and all guests receive a certificate of appreciation. Funds from the tours contribute to Echidna Walkabout’s Koala Research project. Shorter route added to Bupa Challenge Tour
The organisers of the Santos Tour Down Under have unveiled a short distance option for The Bupa Challenge Tour to attract greater public participation. The 20km cycle route from Nuriootpa to Tanunda complements three longer distance options, encouraging cyclists of all abilities to take part in the event on Friday 25 January 2013.  Teams of five riders or more who register before 22 October receive a personalised team jersey and go into the draw for VIP hospitality tickets for Stage 6 of the Santos Tour Down Under.
