International music star to take part in world-first collaboration at Vivid Sydney
The Black Eyed Peas founder, will.i.am, will be joining the stellar line-up of international artists, musicians and thought leaders appearing at Vivid Sydney 2012. As Director of Creative Innovation for Intel, will.i.am will participate in the creation of an interactive lighting collaboration on the façade of the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA). Members of the public will literally be able to ‘play the building’ via an interface that interacts with will.i.am’s music and the projections of renowned Sydney artist Justene Williams. Accor completes purchase of Mirvac Hotels
Accor has completed the purchase of the Mirvac Group's hotel interests in Australia and New Zealand, adding a total of 43 hotels across both countries to its portfolio. In the first phase of integration, Sydney Marriott Hotel will be re-branded as Pullman Sydney Hyde Park, also receiving a $7 million refurbishment to align the hotel to Pullman's 5-star standards. The major refurbishment program will include renovating all remaining rooms as well as significant upgrades to the hotel's lobby and public areas. The National Gallery of Australia announce upcoming summer blockbuster exhibition
The National Gallery of Australia has announced that it will present Toulouse-Lautrec: Paris & the Moulin Rouge as the forthcoming summer blockbuster exhibition. This major retrospective will bring more than 120 paintings, posters and drawings to Australian audiences and will launch the Centenary of Canberra celebrations through summer 2012 to autumn 2013. Toulouse-Lautrec opens on Friday 14 December 2012 and will not be travelling to any other destination domestically or internationally. New Sydney Harbour Eco Hopper provides easy way to see Sydney’s attractions
The new Sydney Harbour Eco Hopper is operating a daily fast ferry service that stops at seven must-see Sydney locations including Darling Harbour, Luna Park, Circular Quay, Taronga Zoo, Watson’s Bay, Manly and the Quarantine Station. Departing every two hours for a two-hour round trip, the Eco Hopper provides a flexible hop-on and hop-off experience of Sydney Harbour and includes live commentary on board the vessel. Peppers Retreats and Resorts launch new degustation menu
Peppers Retreats and Resorts have launched a new degustation menu that features signature dishes from five Peppers' chefs, showcasing the best regional produce from New South Wales and Queensland. The five course "ATaste of Peppers" degustation menu will include matching wines and be available at eight Peppers retreats and resorts, including two Australian Good Food Guide “hatted" restaurants. The menu will be the first in a series of degustation menus to be rolled out, with future menus incorporating input from Peppers’ chefs in Victoria and Tasmania.
