Go native in the Red Centre

Alice Springs in the Red Centre National Landscape is attracting attention world-wide for its innovative use of uniquely Australian fresh produce combined with native cuisine.

Alice Springs

One of the iconic restaurants is The Overlander Steakhouse, where you can sample crocodile, emu and kangaroo along with fresh seafood flown in daily from around Australia, complimented by some of Australia's leading premium wines.

For something uniquely Australian, you can’t go past the Red Ochre Grill with its innovative Australian cuisine combining traditional native fruits and berries such as Wattle seed, Quandong, Lemon Myrtle, Kurrajong Flour, Warrigal Greens, Bunya nuts, Wild Limes and Wild Rosella flowers with local game meats and seafood.

The Red Centre is full of surprises, one of them being the Alice Vietnamese Restaurant, which has its own market garden where locals come to buy organic vegetables or to eat them in the traditional meals served here. Run by hard-working owners Tinh and Lan Nguyen, this eatery offers traditional steamboats, spring rolls and soups, as well as Vietnamese-style fare using Australian produce such as barramundi and crocodile. With its unique concept and stunning sunset and mountain views, Alice Vietnamese Restaurant is fast becoming a must-visit dining spot in The Alice.
