Full story

The countdown to the 3 mobile Ashes Series 2010/11 is on, with the first match just over 12 months away. For those wanting to see if England can retain the Ashes in Australia, Tourism Australia has created content at www.australia.com/ashes to help fans plan their holidays in and around the host cities.

As well as links through to the England and Wales Cricket Board’s website and to Cricket Australia’s site, the new content includes ideas of fantastic places to experience either side of the cricket matches.

Tourism Australia UK General Manager, Rodney Harrex comments: “The last 3 mobile Ashes Series in Australia attracted 37,000* visitors from the UK with each visitor spending an average of 29 days* each in the country, making it a significant tourist event for Australia. We want to inspire those fans to travel widely during their stay in Australia, making the most of the natural wonders and special experiences on offer beyond the match cities.

“Win, lose or draw, English fans are guaranteed to have an amazing holiday. The trick is to plan well in advance, and our site is a good starting point for those looking for ideas.”

The Test Series kicks off in Brisbane on 25 November 2010 before travelling to Adelaide (3 December), Perth (16 December), Melbourne (26 December) and Sydney (3 January).  The Cricket Australia Travel Office has a list of Licensed Travel Operators on its website for the 3 mobile Ashes series 2010/11.
