Full story

Over 80 international incentive travel buyers have landed in Australia today to participate in Dreamtime 2009 – Australia’s premier incentive travel event.

The buyers come from 15 of Australia’s key international markets across North and South Asia, Japan, New Zealand, Europe, UK and the US, and will spend the next two days participating in educationals at one of five top Australian incentive destinations.

The qualified international incentive buyers participating in Dreamtime 2009 will experience some of Australia’s newest and most sustainable incentive product, in order to collect ideas and experiences that they can then sell on to corporate clients.

“Our experience has shown that incentive agents are much more likely to sell an incentive to a client if they themselves have experienced it,” said Tourism Australia’s Head of Business Events, Joyce DiMascio.

“Dreamtime will provide these incentive agents with a hands-on experience of exciting incentive product, to increase the likelihood they will on-sell that product.”

Some of the highlights for Dreamtime delegates over the next two days will include:

  •  A visit to Wolgan Valley, the brand new luxury bush retreat from Emirates located on the outskirts of Sydney, New South Wales
  • Sunset cocktails in the company of kangaroos on beautiful Kangaroo Island, South Australia
  •  Panning for gold at historic Sovereign Hill in Ballarat, Victoria
  •  An AFL clinic with local indigenous children at Uluru, Northern Territory
  • A modern Australian cooking class in Brisbane and a close encounter with crocodiles at Australia Zoo on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.

Delegates will arrive in Sydney on Wednesday to get down to the business end of the program, with a business forum facilitating approximately 2,500 appointments between Australian sellers and international buyers, and a Leaders’ Forum to address “thought leadership” in marketing and innovation.
