Tourism Australia takes very seriously the allegations made in regard to the use of a kangaroo at the G’Day USA event in January.
We would never ever condone any ill-treatment of animals and any suggestion otherwise is just not true.
As soon we were aware of the accusations about the kangaroo we sought the advice of American Humane, and also the animal’s vet, and were given strong assurances that the animal was perfectly OK.
We also work with PETA in the US, which is the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, and have been forming a policy around the use of animals at any future Tourism Australia events.
