Full story

The World of Music, Arts and Dance (WOMAD) is distilled into one joyful festival each year at Adelaide’s beautiful Botanic Gardens.

It’s a spectacular coming together of world famous artists from all over the world. More than 300 musicians from over 20 countries bring the richness and diversity of world music to the three day event that unites audiences with its inspirational spirit.

The festival attracts around 75,000 people each year, many of whom make the pilgrimage from interstate or overseas. The festival has one of the strongest gravitational pulls in all of Australia.

On several stages at day and evening concerts, the invigorating sounds of contemporary and traditional music stimulate the senses. Off the stages, there’s another world of activities with workshops, visual arts programs, cooking classes (from both musicians and notable Australian chefs), parades and incredible roving performers. Kidzone is a large area dedicated to children’s programing.

International food befitting the occasion, plus arts and crafts offerings, are for sale in the festival’s Global Village.

WOMADeldaide has won numerous national and international awards, recognising both its artistic excellence and its long commitment to environmental initiatives and sustainability.
